New Zealand

Tindall Vineyard, Marlborough
The vineyard is situated in Hammerichs Road, Rapaura, in the heart of Marlborough. Terry and Lynley Sowman purchased the estate in 1993 which was originally cropping land and cherry orchards. Nowadays two hectares remain for intensively grown cherries sold locally at premium markets. The vineyards were planted in 1995 on alluvial deposits from the Wairau River and comprise in hectares: twelve Sauvignon Blanc, one Chardonnay and four Pinot Noir. The Tindall Sauvignon style is alive with tropical fruits with herbaceous hints providing structure and freshness. The Pinot Noir site was selected for its propensity of yellow clay in ratio to the alluvial deposits which enables winemaker Dave Knappstein to craft a delightfully elegant, red cherry/gamey Pinot Noir. The wines offered are the Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

Johner Estate, Wairarapa
Karl Heinz Johner and his son Patrick have a passion for Pinot Noir, which until very recently they only produced in their home village of Kaiserstühl in Baden, Germany. However, their constant travels finally took them to New Zealand where they felt the cool climate conditions were perfect for growing this most capricious of grapes. Their Gladstone Pinot Noir is produced from eight hectares of vines planted over a decade ago along the Ruamahanga River in the Wairarapa region on the southern tip of North Island. We offer the Johner Estate Gladstone Pinot Noir.
